Overview of the Apple Magic Mouse 2

 An overview of the past 

2009 saw the arrival of the first Magic Mouse with multi-touch functionality.  Later, in 2015, we received the Magic Mouse 2, which supported iPads and had rechargeable batteries.  We discuss the latter in greater depth here.

 No actual clicks

 The Magic Mouse doesn't have any buttons and doesn't have any scroll wheels.  Like a trackpad, you operate it with swipes and touch.  Although left and right clicks are registered by the mouse, you cannot press both at once.  A (up/down) swiping gesture is used in place of scrolling, as are the majority of other navigational functions.

In addition to the unconventional navigation option, not everyone will find the mouse's design appealing.  At 2.1 x 5.7 x 11.3 cm (HxWxD), the overall profile is fairly tiny, and it weighs less than 100 grams.  Although the contourless arch design is aesthetically pleasing, several users have expressed discomfort and wrist fatigue when using it for extended periods of time.

 Compatibility

 Both MacOS and iPadOS devices can be used with Apple's Magic Mouse 2 without any issues.  Windows computers will detect the device and pair it using Bluetooth, but in order to get it to function correctly, you'll need to make some adjustments and download third-party software.  Versions such as iPadOS 13.4 and later and MacOS X 10.11 are compatible.

Battery life and charging

 The second Magic Mouse has a rechargeable lithium cell that can be charged using a lighting connection, whereas the original used AA batteries.  Because the connector is located on the mouse's underside, the gadget cannot be used while charging.  Users report 3-4 weeks of battery life on a full charge.
